Dev-C++ Compiler

Dev-C++ by Bloodshed Software is a free C++ Integrated Development Environment.  In addition to a host of other features, it includes the features of code completion, debugging, and class browsing. 


 
C++ Language Tutorial

The cplusplus.com site provides a wealth of information suitable for C++ programmers with a variety of backgrounds.  The C++ Language Tutorial is designed for beginners, but prior experience in another programming language is helpful.


 
C++ Course

This C++ course is designed as a general introduction to C++.  It is based on the book "How to Think Like a Computer Scientist" by A. B. Downey.  The course includes a variety of intermediate topics such as recursion, dynamic lists, and pointers.


 
Thinking in C++ 2nd Edition by Bruce Eckel

Bruce Eckel provides a free two-volume electronic textbook for C++.  The volumes are:

  • Introduction to Standard C++
  • Practical Programming

The books and source code for the exercises can be downloaded from a number of mirror sites.  Eckel has similar electronic textbooks for Java and Python.


 
C++: A Dialog by Steve Heller

A free online textbook that includes exercises and reviews.  Source code for exercises can be downloaded from the site.
